Every photo here is from a real job: kitchens, doors, storage and floors I've worked on, some finished and some caught mid-build so you can see how they go together.

Bad joinery rarely fails on day one. It fails every day after.

Most of the problems people end up living with come from rushed setting out and corners cut where nobody looks.

  1. 01

Doors that drift out of line

Units and doors hung out of level look fine at handover. Then the gaps open up until they're the first thing anyone notices.

  2. 02

    Gaps hidden with filler

Scribing a worktop to a wall that isn't straight takes time. A bead of sealant takes seconds, and it cracks within months.

  3. 03

    Floors that bounce underfoot

Joists set out badly or left unstrapped move when you walk on them, and everything fitted on top moves with them.

  4. 04

A different face on fitting day

You agree the job with one person, then someone you've never met turns up to do it and the details get lost in between.

Putting any of it right means stripping out work you've already paid for, then paying again.

Have it done properly the first time.

How a job works, from first message to final fix.

  1. 1

    Message me on WhatsApp

Send a few photos, rough sizes and your area. A short description is plenty to start with.

  2. 2

    I come and measure up

I look at the space, measure it properly and talk through materials, finishes and timing with you.

  3. 3

    You get a clear quote

You'll know what's included before anything is ordered or cut.

  4. 4

I make it, fit it and finish it

The person who measured is the person who fits, so the details you agreed are the details you get.

Questions people ask before getting in touch.

Can't see yours? Ask me directly and you'll get a straight answer.

What kind of joinery do you do?

All kinds, from first fix to finishing. That covers fitted kitchens, staircases and wall panelling, internal doors, alcove units and other fitted storage, roof and floor framing, and one-off pieces like counters and bars. If it's joinery and it isn't listed here, ask.

Which areas do you cover?

West Yorkshire, mainly Wakefield, Featherstone and Pontefract. If you're elsewhere in West Yorkshire, send a message with your area and the job and I'll let you know if I can help.

Are you a company or one joiner?

HUG Joinery is a sole trader business, so you deal with one person. The joiner who replies to your message is the joiner who measures up and does the work.

Do you work on new builds as well as existing homes?

Yes. Recent jobs include roof trusses and floor joists on new builds, as well as kitchens, staircases and storage in homes people are living in.

Can you make storage for an awkward space?

Yes. Alcoves, corners and the space under the stairs are where made-to-measure storage earns its place. The photos include alcove units either side of a fireplace and cupboards shaped to a staircase.

Do you take on commercial work?

Yes. Recent work includes a reception counter built into an office. Send the details and I'll let you know if it suits.

What should I send in my first message?

A few photos of the space, rough measurements if you have them, your area and when you'd like the work done. That's plenty to work out the next step.

How do I get a quote?

Message me on WhatsApp with a few photos of the job. For most jobs I'll need to see the space and measure up before I can give you a price.

Tell me what you’d like built.

A message with a couple of photos is the easiest way to start. There's no form to fill in and no obligation.

Only got a question? Ask it on WhatsApp. That's fine too.
